State level National Talent Search Examination, 2017 - 2018 is to select 118 candidates for National Level Talent Search Examination, 2017-2018, from eligible students studying in class 10 in recognized schools located in Odisha state. State Level National Talent Search Examination, 2017 - 2018 05 November 2017 (Sunday) was organized. Candidates can now check the answer key to get the views of their scores.

Odisha NTSE 2017 – 2018

Examination: National Talent Search Examination, 2017 – 2018 will be conducted in two stages.

Stage – I: State Level National Talent Search Examination is held on 05.11.2017 (Sunday) for selection of candidates to National Talent Search Examination.

Stage – II: National Level Talent Search Examination will be conducted by NCERT for candidates selected through Stage – I. The National Level written examination will be conducted on 13th May 2018.

Cut Off

The cut off of the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) of Odisha will be available on the official website for Class X. Candidates will be able to check the cut off as soon as it is officially available.

Application Form

Candidates wishing to take the National Talent Search Examination Examination can fill online application form by logging in www.scertodisha.nic.in as per the above given program. Direct linking of online application for Odisha NTSE 2017 has also been posted on this page

  • Application Process is over now..!!

After filling the online application form, there is a need to take a printout about him / her and submit it to the concerned school / institution. Send the head of the institute to the concerned District Education Officer. The District Education Officer will allot the examination center, scrutinize and verify all the documents and will make the auto number eleven point roll number and validate the online application form. Entrance letter will be prepared in TE and SCER, which can be downloaded by the candidate to the candidate for application in the examination.

Examination Fees: Candidates do not have to pay any examination fees. However, in order to attend the exam, they have to take their own expenses to come and go to the examination center.

 

Documents to be submitted along with the Hard copy of the Online Application Form

  • Caste Certificate, as applicable, for SC / ST candidate issued by the concerned Tahasildar / Additional Tahasildar.
  • Disability Certificate for Physically Handicapped candidates issued by the concerned District Medical Board.
  • Mark sheet of Class IX annual examination issued by the Head of the Institutions.

Eligibility Criteria

Students studying in class 10th in 2017-2018 in any recognized schools of Odisha are eligible to participate in the National Talent Search Examination. They must have passed the Class IX annual examination with at least 60% marks or equivalent (5% discount for reserved categories). No domicile restriction

State quota for Odisha: 118 candidates will be selected for the National Level Talent Search Examination. In this quota, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 4% reservation for physically challenged candidates.

 

Admit Card

Admit Card or Entry letter for National Talent Search Examination 2017 - 2018 will be prepared in TE and SCER, which can be downloaded for appearing in the examination

Exam Pattern

The State Level NTSE, 2017-2018 will consist of Mental Ability Test (MAT), Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and Language Comprehension Test (LCT). The distribution of time and mark will be as follows :

  • Mental Ability Test (MAT) consists of 50 multiple choice items on reasoning and critical thinking to be answered in 45 minutes. The questions may be on analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figures etc.
  • Language Comprehension Test (LCT) consists of 50 multiple choice items to be answered in 45 minutes. This will be conducted in English language and Odia language. The candidates will get a choice to appear in only one of the two languages
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) consists of 100 multiple choice items (40 questions from Science, 40 questions from Social Science & 20 questions from Mathematics) from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, History, Geography, Political Science and Economics to be answered in 90 minutes.

Syllabus: There is no syllabus for State Level NTS Examination. However, questions will be asked based on syllabi for Classes IX and X.

 

Selection Procedure

The qualifying marks in each person's paper are 40%, i.e. Matt, Set and LCT For reserved category, according to the NCERT norms, the qualifying mark is 32% in each paper. Matt list will be prepared only on the basis of the total number of MAT and SAT secured. Language will be considered as a merit subject. To prepare the merit list, the Secure Points will not be added in the Language Assessment Test. There will be no negative marking in the stage I NTS exam

Stage II: In the Stage-2 examination conducted by NCERT, there will be negative marking for all papers such as mental eligibility test, educational qualification examination, and language assessment test. For every wrong answer, the marks of 1/3 will be deducted and no marks will be deducted for questions without any effort.

 

Scholarship

There are 1000 scholarships for the entire country, the winners of the NTS exam will receive scholarship till Ph.D. Levels in basic science, social science, and commerce and postgraduate level in engineering, medical, management and law are subject to satisfactory academic progress. The rate of scholarship is given below:

  • Scholarship of Rs.1250.00 per month for Class XI and XII.
  • Scholarship of Rs.2000.00 per month for undergraduates and postgraduates.
  • Amount of scholarship for Ph.D. in accordance with the UGC norms.
