About CTET 2023
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), is a national level examination conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education for the recruitment of teachers for Class I to VIII. The test helps CBSE to recruit teachers for schools of the Central Government like Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, etc. The test consists of separate papers for candidates applying for the post of teacher for Class I to V and Class Vi to VIII. Clearing both papers makes you eligible to apply for Class I to VIII.
Eligibility for CTET 2023
The eligibility criteria for both the papers are separate. Satisfying any one of the criteria of the respective paper makes you eligible for the test.
For Class I-V
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education(by whatever name known)
- Passed Senior Secondary exam (or its equivalent) with minimum 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002
- Cleared Senior Secondary exams (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El. Ed)
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks. A candidate must be either appearing or passed in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
For Class VI-VIII
- Applicants who are Graduated and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
- Graduated with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B. Ed)
- Graduation in any discipline with 45% or more marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B. Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard
- Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El. Ed)
- Cleared Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B. A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A.Ed./B.Sc. Ed
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)
Note: Candidates of SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled have a relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks

Application Procedure for CTET 2023
- Log in to the official CTET page. and select the APPLY NOW tab
- Fill the application form
- Upload your scanned photograph and signature
- Pay the application fees by e-challan or debit/credit card
- Take print out of the confirmation page for future reference
Admit Card for CTET 2023
- The Admit card will be tentatively available for download in April (30 days before the actual examination)
- It will be available on the official website of CTET
Syllabus for CTET 2023
The syllabus consists of the topics covered by NCERT books for Class I to VIII.
Exam Pattern for CTET 2023
The test is computer-based and consists of M.C.Q. type questions.
Each question is of 1 mark with no negative marking.
Paper 1:
The duration of the test is 2.5 hours to attempt 150 marks divided into 5 sections.

The Language 1 focus on the language of instruction while language 2 focuses on its technical aspects.
Paper 2:
